Description: Advanced BIOS & SMM Attack & Defense

Advanced BIOS & SMM Attack & Defense is a continuation of the introductory version of the course, which focuses specifically on analyzing the attack surface presented by the firmware. This course is heavily lab based and students should expect to spend a large portion of their time doing hands-on reverse engineering. Throughout the labs, students will likely discover unpatched firmware vulnerabilities and previously disclosed but still unpatched vulnerabilities. It is likely that each student will walk away from the course with both a deep understanding of the attack surface against the firmware, as well as working exploits for their particular laptop's BIOS.

PREREQUISITE WARNING Each class has prerequisites for software loads and a laptop is mandatory. These individual class guides will list material the students are expected have knowledge about coming in and software tools that need to be pre-installed before attending so you get the maximum benefit from the focused intermediate or advanced level course. Please pay particular attention to the prerequisites, as the material listed there will not be reviewed in the courses, and will be necessary to get the maximum benefit out of these educational programs.
